The game was the last to be released by the company before EA Sports bought the NASCAR license exclusively from 2004 to 2009 (parent company Sierra's successor company, Activision Blizzard, reacquired NASCAR rights in 2011, with NASCAR The Game: 2011).
I would love to find a solution to this problem so I can go back to playing the still great NR2003.NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, or NR2003 for short, is a computer racing simulator released in February 2003 by Papyrus Design Group for PC and Mac OS X. I do however have Nascar Racing 4 on my computer and that works perfectly fine. I have no traces of NR2003 on my computer other than the zip file containing the full game prior to setup -> <- this stuff. One comment suggested looking into the registry and removing anything that had to do with NR2003, I had done this already that but it also suggests running the uninstall exe which doesn't exist anywhere on my computer except through the autorun exe which upon doing results in the same catastrophic failure error.
This person seemed to have the same problem with his setup.exe but I found the solution to his problem confusing, in short some comments mention things being in the recycle bin which makes no sense to me as there is nothing in my recycle bin, but it apparently worked out for him. So I looked around the web for solutions when I came across this reddit post. I had the game installed before the system reboot and it worked perfectly fine, however, I think what caused the problem was I had not uninstalled the game using the uninstall.exe prior to performing the system reboot. I have recently did a full system reset for my windows 10 Republic of Gamers laptop and upon installing NR2003 I get to the setup exe, when I try to run it I get an error "An installation support file could not be installed.
